Note to Self
Note to Self is a self-portrait series captured on 35mm film. It is about a woman writing notes to herself in order to keep track of the lessons she’s learning as she goes through life.
Note To Self:
It may not seem like it at first, but there’s always a way to deal with a broken heart.
On days when sadness comes without a warning and it makes your body feel foreign, rest. Self-care is important.
Note To Self:
You are fire.
Tend to your flames instead of quenching them.
One of the most empowering acts of defiance is the full acceptance of your sexuality.
Don’t try to conceal it for fear of being condemned.
Society will always try to force rules down our throats but at the end of the day, you decide who you want to be and how you want to express it.
You’ve been breaking and bending,
bending and breaking for people all your life.
Now you are breaking and bending,
bending and breaking no more.

I love this. Powerful words! We’ve been bending and breaking; now we break and bend no more. We take charge. Thank you 🙂
“Bending and breaking no more”….too often does the black woman find herself taking care of everyone else besides herself. Self care is crucial and matter of fact, right now, I have to check in on myself.
I’ve been self reflecting a lot as of late. I’m trying to be honest and intentional about who I am and what I want.
LOVE THIS! So creative and so powerful! “you are fire. Tend to your flames instead of quenching them”
Beautiful! We can all use words of encouragement when times get tough.
Self Care is so important and reflecting on life’s circumstances is the best place to start. Beautiful photography.
These words are so stunning and true, love them. And the images, just powerful and gorgeous. Hugs my girl <3
I love this post and the images are pretty powerful. It’s so important to learn yourself, accept who you are and then take care of YOU.
Very creative. I love the tend to your flames instead of quenching them.
I just purchased a journal from Target that has “I Gotta Be Me” on the front cover. It’s so very freeing to be able to come to the realization that you are the most important person in your life, before being able to be important to anyone else.
This is pretty deep. I think we all had issues with a broke heart or even our sexual frustations can make us feel a type of way. Thanks for these candid notes its relatable.
Very Poetic and artistic. The imagery made the text come alive.
These are awesome notes to self! Great reminders and inspiring words!
Beautiful series, powerful message. Thank you!

Loving this series and the new look of your blog. What an empowering message to all women. We must certainly love, take care and accept ourselves first before can expect anyone else to. xo
