The bond between women has always been a sacred one.  Through transitions and births and trauma these relationships are the ones that breathe life into us when everything around us seems suffocating.  It’s a space of support and healing and one of the few places where some of us feel seen. Many times our sisters, chosen or biological, know us better than our partners and our parents. I was raised with two brothers, but I have acquired many sisters along my journey who have supported and encouraged me while also being able to sit me down and say, “hey sis, you’re tripping.” I have also had sisters that were placed in my life only for a season, and although we chose different paths, I love them all the same. In this issue our contributors will explore all the ways in which sisterhood has informed their experiences, we talk about the pains of growing apart and knowing when to let go of toxic relationships, and how to open ourselves up to new friendships. As the new moon enters Leo, we will also explore ways that we can empower ourselves and set our intentions for the second half of this year.  We will be sharing photos of the beauty that lies in sisterhood on our Instagram @DistinguishedDiva so please post your photos of you and your sisters and tag them #DDSisters and we will share them with the collective.

Love & Light,
