Sorry, I’m Late

A visual satire story of a Lagosian woman’s lateness.
By: Wami Aluko
Here you see a fly Lagosian woman. She is running late for an event. Maybe a happy hour, maybe a wedding, maybe a date for which she is only half interested. In a hurry, she puts on the most random items in her closet.
In touch with her heritage, she rocks our traditional Bantu knot hairstyle.
But being the well-travelled innovative rebel that she is, she fuses this with elements of western and oriental wear and even menswear, because gender is performative.
Somehow she makes it all look seamless. But she’s still late.
